2018 Rogers Cup Prize Money
Much money will be at stake at next week's Rogers Cup in Toronto, especially on the men's side. The tournament has an almost $6 million commitment, and more than 1 million will go to the winner. There will not be the Swiss Roger Federer, but Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will compete and they look like the favorites to head into the final.
The Serb seeks his fifth title here (he last won in 2016 beating the Japanese Kei Nishikori), the fourth instead for Nadal who won in 2005, 2008 and 2013. Triumphing in Toronto would mean for Djokovic to break the $115 million career prize money barrier and have around $2 million less than the list leader Roger Federer, who will soon reach $117m.
The finalist takes $500,000, $251,000 for the semifinalist, $128,000 for the quarter-finalist. Just playing the first round will guarantee $18,000. The world No. 54 Jared Donaldson is the last player to directly join the main draw by ranking.
As for WTA, the Ukranian player Elina Svitolina is the defending champion, in last year's final she defeated the Dane Caroline Wozniacki. Prize money didn't increase really a lot, the winner takes $519,000, which is the half than the ATP.
$252,000 for the finalist, $8,000 for the first round losers. Here below full ATP Toronto - Prize money 2018:
